TEXT & SIGNIFIER
An exhibition exploring the use of texts and signifiers as visual elements and/or devices in contemporary prints and multiples. The exhibit is a selection of editions published by the Carl Solway Gallery, Mark Patsfall Graphics, and Volatile Editions. The works span a time period of almost 30 years, from 1969 to 1998, and represent a wide range of media and conceptual strategies towards creating editioned works. Mediums utilized by the artists include sculpture, lithography, etching, screenprinting, audio, books, and mixed media prints.

Artists represented in the exhibition are: Vito Acconci, William Allen, John M. Bennett, Richard Bitting, John Cage, Buckminster Fuller, Nancy Graves, Nam June Paik, Joseph Kosuth, C. V. Mansoor, Matt Mullican, Rm. Palaniappan, Ben Patterson, Bern Porter, Kay Rosen, Jochen Saueracker, Carolee Schneemann, Sandy Skoglund, Annie Sprinkle, Julia Wachtel, Barbara Westermann, Hannah Wilke, as well as the "Fluxfax" portfolio which includes works by 35 Fluxus artists.
The exhibition is available for rental, in whole or in part. Due to the large number of works in the exhibition it is very flexible, fitting spaces small and large. Rental fees and expenses are determined accordingly. All works in the exhibition are for sale.
